Wanhui World Academy

A unique school building in beautiful surroundings

The Wanhui World Academy will open in September 2021 in Dujiangyan, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China.

The School has been designed by one of China’s leading architects and the campus is the first in China to incorporate waterways, arched bridges and gardens in the style of a traditional Chinese town. It includes first class educational facilities, sports areas, boarding houses for students, staff apartments and accommodation for family members of younger children.

Most students will be weekly boarders, returning to Chengdu at the weekends.

A tri-partite venture embracing the best of Chinese, British and Finnish educational practice

The School, which is Chinese in origin, is the result of a unique cooperation between British, Finnish and Chinese educational specialists. The School will follow government directives in offering the Chinese national curriculum from Years 1-9 but this will be delivered using both a Finnish and British constructive pedagogical approach.

Wanhui World Academy will have a distinct character based on learner-centred classrooms where expectations are high and students take ownership of their learning. At all stages, it is envisaged that students will play a central role in their learning through exercising choice and evaluating their own progress. It is anticipated that student engagement levels will be exceptionally high.
